Night The Stars Fell
The Denver Astronomical Society will setup telescopes (weather permitting) in the courtyard from 8:30 - 9:30 p.m. for a luminous view of the night sky.
On November 13, 1833 thousands of meteors showered the sky over North America. To the native peoples of the land, it appeared that the stars were falling out of the heavens. Some thought it was the judgment.
To celebrate this phenomenon in history, Dr. Marc Levine and Dr. Steven Lee (from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science) will lecture about the historical and scientific aspects of Leonids meteor shower in conjunction with a special dinner at The Fort.Sunday, November 11, 2012

2012 Farolito Lighting & Pinecone Ceremony -
On Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., The Tesoro Cultural Center will celebrate its southwestern tradition of lighting the farolitos (paper lanterns) in the courtyard of The Fort restaurant (19192 Highway 8). The festivities usher in the holiday season and honor a member of the community who has enlightened the minds and souls of others.
The evening includes entertainment by Dr. Lorenzo Trujillo, Dr. Robert Klimek and the Light of the World Church Choir, Colorado School of Mines (The Sweet Adelines, CSM Melodic Minors) and Rex Rideout & The Denver Mountainairs. All guests are invited to join in the traditional pinecone ceremony and write the name of someone he/she wishes to remember on a slip of paper and tuck it into the cone. At the conclusion of the evening, the pinecones are placed in the courtyard campfire. The resulting glimmers of light and bright fire glide upwards, carrying the messages into the sky. Enjoy complimentary hot-spiced apple cider, coffee and biscochitos (bite-sized cinnamon-anise cookies).
The event is free and open to the public. Outside event, dress warmly.
